About Our Pack

Our Pack primarily serves Troy Union Elementary school in Troy, MI, but Cub Scout members from surrounding area public and private schools are welcome to join our Pack as well.  Our Pack consists of about 25 students grouped by grade level into 6 Dens:  Lions (Kindergarten) Tigers (1st grade), Wolves (2nd grade), Bears (3rd grade), Webelos I (4th grade) and Webelos II/Arrow of Light (5th grade).

We have three big annual events . . . our Popcorn Sale, the Pinewood Derby and Blue & Gold Banquet.

  • The Popcorn Sale is our only Fundraiser.  We are consistently one of the top 3 selling Packs for our areas, the North Star District.
  • Our Pinewood Derby race is held each February with the boys making their own cars with help from an adult.  Major awards are given to the top three racers in each Den, who all compete for the top three spots in the Pack.  Those Scouts placing in the top 3 spot in their Den or the Pack continue to the District Pinewood Derby.
  • The Blue & Gold Banquet is our promotion celebration. Cub Scouts are recognized as having completed their current rank achievement and promoted to the next rank.  In addition, Webelos II celebrate achieving the Arrow of Light and make the crossover from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts.  The Arrow of Light is the highest award in Cub Scouting.  It is the only Cub Scout badge that a Scout may wear on their Scouts BSA uniform.

Pack 1707 is involved in the community in many ways. We have several service events each year. In the past we have volunteered at Gleaner’s Food Bank and collected school supplies for a new school in Africa.  Dens have also cleaned up the school yard and reclaimed an atrium that had been neglected for years.  We also participate in "Scouting for Food" and have our own annual "Toys for Tots" drive.
